Urgent News!!!!

As of July 1, 2005, Transportation Consumer Protection Council ("TCPC") will be changing its name to, Transportation & Logistics Council.  Please make a note of the new website address:  www.tlcouncil.org.

The Transportation Consumer Protection Council ("TCPC") is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to the education of shippers, carriers and others involved in the transportation of goods, the prevention of transit loss and damage, the promulgation of reasonable practices, laws and regulations, and the equitable resolution of disputes involving freight claims, freight charges and related matters.

Since its formation in 1974*, TCPC  has published numerous texts and educational materials, and has conducted hundreds of seminars for over 10,000 students.  The Council has also led movements for retaining and strengthening laws, regulations and rules affecting carrier liability in both domestic and international trade, and has organized strong coalitions of shipper interests in these areas.

All members receive a monthly "TransDigest" containing a wealth of current information on developments in all modes of transportation - truck, rail, air and ocean, and have access to a telephone "Hot Line" for answers to questions about freight claims and related subjects.  Members also receive a directory of members, transportation consultants and attorneys, as well as discounts on books, educational materials, workshops and seminars.  New members receive a complimentary copy of Freight Claim Prevention in Plain English and Transportation Insurance in Plain English.

Each spring and fall, the Council conducts educational seminars on topics of direct interest to persons involved in transportation.  The Council's Annual Meeting and Conference is held, at a different U.S. city, each year in March or April.

Membership is open to all segments of the transportation community.  Our members include transportation, distribution and logistics managers, purchasing managers, credit managers, cargo inspectors and surveyors, insurers, transportation consultants, attorneys and others having a role in the transportation of goods.

* TCPC was originally formed in 1974 as the Shipper's National Freight Claim Council, Inc. The name was changed to the Transportation Claims and Prevention Council, Inc. in 1990 to reflect the broadening of the Council's activities and objectives, and was changed again in 1996 in response to the Council's increasing role in the protection of consumers of transportation services necessitated by the demise of the ICC.
